My passion here at The Vintage Twine is to help my customers make their house a home, with décor finds they love. I enjoy being able to teach everyone how to decorate spaces on their own with tips and tricks that can be used year-round. With that I am proud to announce the start of Tip Tuesday. Each Tuesday, I will post a décor tip or trick that you can utilize in your own space. If you love the tip, please let us know by liking, commenting, or sharing the post (or doing all three). If you have any questions, please email us at thevintagetwine@gmail.com or message us on Facebook The Vintage Twine. I will be more than happy to help you in any way I can! Happy Decorating!

Spring is in the air here in Wyoming this week. The sun has been shining, the birds have been singing, and the green grass is starting to sprout. With Spring brings the need to “Spring Clean” or “Declutter” the spaces in our home. I know that I personally declutter my home twice a year, once in the Fall and once in the Spring. Today I wanted to give everyone a few of my tried-and-true tips for decluttering your spaces in your home this Spring.

  1. Make a to-do declutter list! I am telling you all the only way to go about decluttering a home from start to finish is with a list (personal opinion of course). Make a list of each individual space in your home that you are wanting to declutter. Be specific in that list. Exactly what drawer are you needing to clean out? Exactly what closet needs rearranged? As you complete the spaces you want decluttered on your list, mark them off!
  2. Be prepared with the items you will need during your declutter process. Grab cleaning supplies, garbage bags, rags, and anything else you might need during this process. Make them readily available so that you do not have to go searching for cleaning supplies as you go.
  3. Create a home for all your belongings. We all have items that float around in our homes but, if possible, make a home for all your items. Find an unused space and use it for those miscellaneous items that do not have a permanent spot (hello junk drawer). Not only will this help with decluttering your home, but it will also help with the stress we all feel when our home feels unorganized and not functional.
  4. Keep your unwanted declutter organized! When I am decluttering my home, I always have 2-3 boxes that I designate as a throw box, donate box, or sell box. I place my items in them accordingly as I go. Then at the end of my decluttering session’s (yes, my Spring cleaning takes more than one day) I will take my boxes to the appropriate places such as the garbage or good will.

I hope that these 4 decluttering tips help you as much as they do me. Keep in mind that decluttering doesn’t happen in one day. Your house didn’t clutter up with all the things in a day, its very possible it isn’t going to declutter in one day, and that is ok! I hope that you have found this décor tip Tuesday useful. Though it is not focused solely on décor, at times, I find if my home is decluttered then it is easier to decorate for my favorite seasons!

I hope you all loved this décor tip Tuesday and I hope it helps you with your decluttering or Spring cleaning process! -Michelle
